This website is run by Jisc. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Video/audio

We aim to make our video and audio content accessible to everyone by providing transcripts or captions wherever possible. Some video content is provided by third parties. In these cases we will only provide transcripts or captioning if they are provided by the third party.

YouTube and Google Maps 

We embed YouTube videos and Google Maps on the site. We know there are accessibility issues with these features. We don't have accessible alternatives and, as we don't control the platform, are unable to make the changes required to improve them.

PDFs

Some documents are stored as Portable Document Format (PDF). To view and print PDF files, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader (or an equivalent PDF viewer) installed. Download PDF reader.

Content

Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). We plan to address this by February 2025.

Heading order doesn't clearly reflect the structure of the page in some sections. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships). We plan to address this by January 2025.

Some text and background combinations don't have enough contrast. They don't meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 (contrast - minimum). We plan to address this by January 2025.

Some text appears to be a heading but is not a heading element. This fails to meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels Level AA). We plan to address this by January 2025

Some of our interactive forms are difficult to navigate using a keyboard. For example, because some form controls are missing a 'label' tag or have a broken aria reference. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role value). We plan to address this by the end of 2025.

The purposes or functions of some links within the site is unclear because they contain no text. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.4 (link purpose). We plan to address this by February 2025.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 22 September 2020. It was last reviewed on 25 April 2024.

This website was last tested on 7 February 2024. The test was carried out by Jisc's Student Services product team.

We decided on a sample of pages to test by making sure that all major work flows for users were covered.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

Whenever new features are released they must meet WCAG 2.2 AA. We're also committed to working on the issues above.
